Longest Assignment

On Monday, June 17, 2002 there was a freight train derailment along the 10000 block of Harts Island Road off of La. Highway 1 near the LSU Pecan Station. Twenty-one cars left the tracks with some of them knocking down power lines which started several small fires.  Personnel from Caddo Fire Districts 5, 9 and 6 responded to the call as well as units from the Kansas City Southern Railroad Co., Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office and the Louisiana State Police. Unit 51 responded with Signal 51 members and stayed on the  scene 22 hours serving refreshments to over 100 emergency workers.
